Sonoma’s Pinot Summit
Over two decades, one Sonoma County winery has earned legendary status among Wine Access members by making consistently exquisite wines from some of the top vineyards in the region.
That winery is Dutton-Goldfield, and we’re thrilled to share this unprecedented vertical of three library Pinot Noirs from the renowned McDougall Vineyard on the true Sonoma Coast. They all bear impressive scores from Wine Enthusiast (including 96 for the 2018!) and have been perfectly cellared at the winery since bottling.
McDougall is a sacred site in Sonoma County Pinot, and to Dutton-Goldfield. Planted in 1998 and acquired in 2001 by Warren Dutton, the site is located among massive redwoods, just north of icons Hirsch and Flowers. Here, the mighty Pacific serves up fierce winds that buffet the vines, resulting in wines that are absolutely thrilling.
2018 Dutton-Goldfield Pinot Noir McDougall Vineyard Fort-Ross Seaview
From a site overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Gualala River, planted at the urging of Warren Dutton, this wine is outstanding. Peppery, floral and fruity on the nose and palate, it evolves in the glass to show elegant acidity and earthy, herbal qualities, with tones of crushed rock, sea air and black tea.
96 points—Wine Enthusiast
2017 Dutton-Goldfield Pinot Noir McDougall Vineyard Fort-Ross Seaview
From a site 1,100-feet up on a ridge overlooking the Pacific Ocean, this wine offers rich cherry and strawberry tones alongside dried herbs. A balanced framework of lifted acidity propels it along.

2016 Dutton-Goldfield Pinot Noir McDougall Vineyard Fort-Ross Seaview
Crunchy in crisp red fruit and a tease of orange peel, this wine is silky smooth and splendid. Bright acidity freshens the underlying intensity of rock mineral and flint, while a rose petal tone adorns the finish.
